Meet our sponsor- Hindi Zeidman from The Ollie World

Hello & happy Sunday! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend as much as J man and I have been. If you stopped by the blog yesterday you might have noticed that I mentioned an awesome giveaway in the works. Being that the giveaway goes live tomorrow (Monday 28th @ 10AM PST) I figured I would fill you in a little, or a lot, on what the giveaway is all about. Introducing my incredible sponsor will give you all a chance to get to know her on a more personal level, and see for yourself how brilliant she, and her company truly are.

Below is a summary of The Ollie World company, and some background on how it came about, in the words of none other than Hindi Zeidman herself. So please, sit back, relax and prepare to be moved by this talented woman the way I was.

"My story begins in 2008 when I fell in love with an infant named Oliver. He was handsome, and yet on the verge of being labeled “failure to thrive.” Other foster parents struggled with keeping Oliver because he was difficult, struggling to eat and sleep. But I was in love, and so I began my journey to help Oliver thrive.
My experience in infant mental health had acquainted me with the timeless technique of swaddling. However, to both my and Oliver’s distress, the swaddles available on the market didn’t seem to help. They either didn’t hold him correctly, were not strong enough to apply a comforting pressure, or they left his legs unwrapped. So my mission to help Oliver took a new turn as I searched for a swaddle which would meet all of Oliver’s needs.
The answer finally came when I created a new type of swaddle. One which would move with him through the night, keep a comforting pressure from his shoulders to his feet, and which would help keep him cool. When I started wrapping my little Ollie in the new swaddle, I began to see dramatic changes. He began to sleep through the night, eating and gaining weight. Most importantly, he began to catch up with developmental milestones which he had missed. Ollie began to thrive!
This change led to a happy ending for Ollie. In 2009 he was adopted by a loving family. Since then, I have been working with a great team to develop a quality swaddle which could be shared with families everywhere. This is the swaddle which you see today, The Ollie, named after my little love."

I feel SO very lucky to have gotten the chance to meet this wonderful woman, and learn a little about her over the past week or so. Collaborating with her has been so much fun, and I cannot wait for this giveaway to go LIVE tomorrow. Spreading the word about this specific company means a lot to me, as I too , struggled with the swaddles on the market during the time that Jonah was a wee little one. Sadly I wont be able to test it out myself, being that my baby isn't a baby anymore, but one lucky reader of mine will! Stay tuned for my blog post tomorrow morning that will include rules, regulations, and all the how to's on how to enter yourself (or a friend/family member) in this awesome giveaway.. you know, all the good stuff.

A little of this & a little of that

Hi, all! I've been pretty mia on this thing lately & I'm pretty bummed about it. Blogging sadly hasn't been on my priority list the past couple weeks, and as much as I absolutely adore posting for you all, I just haven't had the time. I'm a stay at home mom, but gosh does that seem like the hardest job on the planet these days. The terrible twos have hit full force in our home & I've wanted to rip my hair out too many times to count.

With all that being said, I really hope you all can understand why I haven't been the most active. But guess what, that's all about to change! I'm making a promise to myself & to all of my amazing followers/readers to post something at least once a week... That's totally doable, right? ....I'm hoping so.

A little update on Jonah and I::
I'm currently unemployed (as I mentioned above), as much as I loved being a coach employee, I had to resign due to my grandmother having shoulder surgery. She was the one and only person to babysit Jonah as I worked long hours every day. Her health and well being is more important than any job, & being that I'm lucky and fortunate enough to be a sahm, I took the leap and jumped back into the housewife life (minus the husband ;) Other than the change in my work life, not much has been going on with me. Let's just say.. I'm happy, I'm loved & I'm BLESSED.

As for Jonah, he's doing incredibly well. Aside from the terrible two tantrums, he's a gem. & a cute one at that! His modeling "career" has skyrocketed & I couldn't be more proud. He's currently representing 6 clothing + moccasin companies & as awesome as that is, it's tough work sometimes. Keeping up with all of the clothing & photo-taking gets overwhelming at times. But all in all it is so, so fun & exactly what I see myself doing with Jonah for a very long time. He enjoys it, so I enjoy it. That's just the mama in me. But the biggest news I've been SO excited to share with all of you, is that Jonah has a meeting with none other than the amazing LA models agency (youth) on the 29th of this month. If all goes well, he'll get signed and begin booking actual modeling gigs. Did I say how proud of him I was!? Because I am.

That's all for updates! But one last thing....

I have an incredible giveaway in the works, so stay tuned & keep a look out for my next blog post!!

I hope every single one of you had an incredible week. Hey, it's Friday #putasmileon, Thank you for visiting the radandrebellious, kisses from Jonah and I - Xo

"Momtography" - My top 3 Tips & Tricks

We all know how difficult it could be to take a decent photo of a turbulent tot. As a mother to one super rad (and rebellious) two-nager, I know this a little TOO well. Chasing my son around the house to snap just one post worthy photo a day, has quickly become the norm around here. Over the past year I've become, as many like to call it, a professional momtographer, a momarazzi. Funny terms, but oh so true. I've learned tips and tricks along the way that have made photo-snappin' just a tad bit easier for me.

1. Know your child
- You may all be reading that, thinking to yourself, "psh, of course I know my child." And yes, I know it sounds silly. But what I mean by "know your child" is to read your child(ren's) mood(s). Let me put it this way.. Do you like getting cameras shoved in your face when you're having an off day? Didn't think so. When your babe isn't in the mood to be followed around by a camera, accept it & try again another day... unless you want your photos to turn out like this...

2. Lighting
- The most important tip for taking great photos is lighting. I find that the best time to take outside photos is before the sun comes up, or when the sun is setting. Point being: find yourself a nice shaded area.

 3. Candy, cookies, cars
- And lots of them. Kids will be kids.. and sometimes handing them a treat before whipping out the camera will put them in a better mood. The better their mood, the better the photos (refer to 1st tip). Jonah's favorite photo taking treats are lollipops, cookies + toy cars. Sucha' boy!

Remember moms, don't turn momtography into something your child(ren) will despise. Have fun with it, laugh about it, be silly with it. Because at the end of the day, it's just a photo.

Thanks for visiting the rad & rebellious. Have a wonderful rest of the week, XO.

040414 photo shoot outtakes

Snapping pics of my babes isn't always so glamorous. Although he seems to be a total ham behind the camera all the time (which he usually is) there are also those times when he makes me wanna pull my hair out. Everybody has their bad days, right? Today's mini shoot was dedicated to the amazing Geo Fox Apparel clothing line; the most recent brand to select Jonah as a SS14' brand ambassador, yippy! *as if we didn't already own more than half of their entire line, now we'll double up* not complainin'. Talk about rad clothing for tots. Check them out here http://www.geofoxapparel.com/

Here Jonah is wearing their sunshine daydreams v-neck, paired with their palm tree shorts. The perfect outfit for summer! Hey Geo Fox, when will these pieces come in my size!? But really...

Do you understand why I'm completely obsessed with this outfit now!? Get your butt off my blog now & go wild ordering your babe some awesome pieces to start their summer wardrobe. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Thanks for visiting the rad & rebellious. Xo
